HOW TO CITE A FULL TEXT JOURNAL ARTICLE FROM A DATABASE

APA
EBSCOhost's suggested APA bibliographic style for citing an article from an EBSCOhost database:

Author. (Year). Article title. Journal Name , volume(issue), paging. Retrieved Access date, from Database supplier/Database product name.

Voelker, R. (2004). Stress, Sleep Loss, and Substance Abuse Create Potent Recipe for College Depression. JAMA: Journal of the American Medical Association, 291, 2177-2179. Retrieved May 24, 2004, from Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition database.

InfoTrac uses the following APA example to cite articles from their databases:

Gremillion, Kristen J. (1996). Early agricultural diet in North America: evidence from two Kentucky rockshelters. American Antiquity, 61(3), 520. Retrieved March 17, 2002, from InfoTrac Web Expanded Academic ASAP. A19027669.

The Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, fifth edition, section 4.15 states, "If information is retrieved from an aggregated database, providing the name of the database is sufficient; no address is needed."

For more information on electronic reference formats recommended by APA, see APA Style.org Electronic References, also http://www.apastyle.org/elecsource.html (bottom of page example 88). Information from APA, on how to cite other electronic references, such as urls, are currently (Oct. 2005) at http://www.apastyle.org/elecmedia.html. APA frequently changes the help/sample pages; if the page is missing go to www.apa.org and browse.

MLA
