West Virginia State University (formerly West Virginia State College) is located in Institute, eight miles from downtown Charleston. WVSU is just off Interstate 64 at exit 50, along Route 25. Approaching the campus from the I-64 exit turn left (east) on Rt 25 for approximately two tenths of a mile. The nine story building on your right is Wallace Hall. On the east side of the building is the visitors' parking lot.

Visitors need to check in with Public Safety (Security) located on the first floor (east end) of Wallace Hall. The Drain-Jordan Library is diagonally southeast of the visitors' parking lot, on the south side of the sculpture. Map of the campus, the library is building number 4.
